Dr. David Wang earned his medical degree at Duke University Medical School in 2003, and continued on at Duke University Medical Center to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency. He then relocated to Los Angeles, CA for an extensive sports medicine fellowship at Southern California Orthopaedic Institute, working with Dr. Stephen Snyder, one of the world’s foremost shoulder surgeons.
Dr. Wang began private practice in 2009 with a practice emphasis on arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee. He is committed to closely working with all patients, whether elite athletes or weekend warriors, to help them return to active lifestyles, using both non-surgical and surgical means. He has a special interest in minimally invasive arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, labral repair, and ACL and meniscus repairs.
He has authored numerous
articles and given dozens of presentations on shoulder and knee related problems. Dr. Wang has received an NIH research fellowship grant, as well as a Duke University research grant to support his work in the past.
His many professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the California Orthopaedic Association, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Piedmont Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Wang has been an assistant team physician for many teams throughout his career, including the Duke University men’s basketball team. He is currently a team physician for Sacramento City College, the Sacramento Capitals World Team Tennis, and the Sacramento Gold.
Dr. Wang has always enjoyed the outdoors and became an Eagle Scout in his youth. He is an avid sports enthusiast and particularly enjoys running, golf, tennis, and basketball.
